First RED 4K Shoot Underwater in Mexico

It is not often one gets to be the first to do something. It was with great delight I helped complete a fantastic shoot underwater in Mexico City.

Working with Fernando Reyes (Director of Photography), Julio Fons (Director), the crew of RED Rentals Mexico and Vecinidad Production house. We completed the first TV and cinema commercial to shoot RED 4K underwater in Mexico.

Working underwater can sometimes put great stress on the things that are simple to achieve above land. Just simply being able to communicate to actors and models can be a challenge. This is overcome by a full underwater communication system allowing the director to communicate directly with the camera operator. An underwater loudspeaker allows the director to speak with the models and actors, creating an environment that is almost as if the water is not there….
